Open OBS Studio, in this walkthrough I’ll be using the 64-bit version already set up for NVENC Encoding.
Select ‘Settings’ in the bottom-right of the window to open up the stream settings menu.
The General menu will be the first one to show when you open settings, you don’t have to change anything here unless you’d like to such as language and source snapping.
Next is the Stream menu, from here you’ll want to change the service to hitbox.tv (this will be changed to Smashcast in the future, however we are currently running on the old platform's servers) and make sure the Stream Type is set to Streaming Services.
Next you’ll want to choose the ingest server closest to you. You can choose default but we do recommend choosing the ingest location closest to where you are streaming from.
On this screen you’ll also need to enter your stream key which can be found in your account Studio > Channel page
Next is the output screen. These settings vary depending on your computer performance and internet speeds.
The biggest thing to make sure you change is at the top make sure Output Mode is set to Advanced and that your Keyframe Interval is set to 2 - this is required to make sure streams play and record on Smashcast properly.
From there, you can change the Encoder, rescale the output to 720p for example, adjust the bitrate (we recommend 3500, but check your upload speed).
After that you can save your settings, make some scenes, and start your stream!
