Linking your Smashcast and Discord account together

in: Discord Integration
  1. After logging into your Smashcast account, head on over to your Account > Connections page.

  2. Below Facebook and Twitter you’ll see an option to connect Discord.

  3. You’ll get an option on whether you’d like to link just your account or link your account and add the bot.

  4. An oauth screen should pop-up to sign into Discord, fill out your email address and password there, and TFA is applicable (strongly recommended).

  5. The pop-up will then let you know what it’s asking for access to.

    1. If you’re just syncing your account it’ll ask for access to your username and avatar and access to join servers for you.

    2. If you’re syncing your account AND adding the bot, it’ll ask for the above in addition to which server you want to add it to (you can only add the Smashcast bot to servers which you have Manage Server permissions).

      1. DO NOT uncheck any of the boxes for permissions. I mean you can, but it might cause things to break/not work correctly. I’m not the boss of you but just giving you fair warning.

  6. Click “Authorize” to authorise Smashcast and Discord to link up.

  7. And that’s it. That was easy, wasn’t it?

    1. You can also add a bot to your channel afterwards by clicking the “Add Discord bot” on your connections page. See guide here if you’re unsure of what to do.
